Results Based Therapy

At Performance Therapeutics our approach to therapeutic massage is performance based. We are interested in reaching your goal as quickly and efficiently as possible and returning you to a state of optimum function, whether for athletics or daily living. Freedom from pain and the ability to perform functional tasks, and to optimize athletic performance are but two points along the same continuum.

Many orthopedic issues stem from soft tissue imbalances that are easily treated using massage therapy techniques. Massage therapy is a direct and time tested approach to treating acute and chronic soft tissue dysfunction and reducing pain. Palpation, postural examination, and movement testing are used to determine the origin of the problem and the necessary steps needed to fix it. After treatment, homework such as stretching, self massage techniques, and specialized exercises are often given to assist in the therapeutic process and optimize recovery.

Treatment Procedure

Evaluation

All new clients receive a thorough assessment including an interview and history, postural examination, orthopedic testing, and movement screening. This procedure will account for 30 minutes of first session in addition to any treatment received.

Treatment

Techniques from a multitude of disciplines are used to facilitate the changes necessary to alter soft tissue imbalances and correct movement dysfunctions. These include but are not limited to:

Myofascial Release

PNF Stretching & Muscle Energy Techniques

Soft Tissue Release

Plan

After evaluation and treatment during the first session, short and long term goals will be articulated and a plan will be developed to achieve those goals in the most effective way possible. This plan will serve as a guideline to ensure your treatment goals are met in a cost and time effective manner.

performance, n.

-an action, task, or operation, seen in terms of  how successfully performed the capabilities of a machine when observed under particular conditions

-a vehicle’s capacity to gain speed rapidly and move efficiently and safely at high speed

Performance is important to everyone. Whether you’re an athlete, dancer, musician, soldier, office administrator, or a dentist your body needs to work at optimum capacity for whateverthe chosen task. Often our ability to perform is compromised due to repetitive strain we put on our bodies.

Muscular and connective tissue imbalances are commonplace. The asymmetries we create due to overuse, poor movement strategies, and lack of proper conditioning often generate soft tissue dysfunction and eventually pain.

When early signs of soft tissue dysfunction are ignored they can put enormous pressure on pain sensitive structures of the body and create more serious orthopedic problems over time. Dealing with soft tissue problems and creating proper movement strategies is essential to maintaining performance throughout seasons, years, and life.
