So, a new guy come in to my studio today for my 6am class wearing 5 fingers. I think to myself, “he must do crossfit,” but I don’t ask since people think Crossfit is too hardcore in my world. We talk about the fiver fingers and why they are good and how he sprints in them and how they took some getting used to.
Since he is new, I ask him about his yoga practice and exercise regime etc etc. He says he used to do yoga, then got really into weight lifting (he is vague about his exercise routine which again makes me think “Crossfit”) about a year ago and got away from yoga. As I watched him move in class, I realize he is a lot more “fit” than most weightlifter/runner types that haven’t done yoga in awhile.
Soooo, we get to the inversion part of the practice (headstands and handstands) and I ask him if he as ever done them. He says, “yeah…..i do handstand push-ups so handstands are no problem…..” I knew it! “Crossfit?”, I whisper while the rest of the room is doing their handstands. He says, “yeah, i am in the cult.”
It was all so weird that neither one of us just said, “I do Crossfit or do you do Crossfit?” Like it is all hush hush and on the down low.
We cult groupies are so shy to share our secret lives.

Need an advice on Electrolyte Replenishment to prevent leg cramps. I have no idea if anybody had similar problems, but I figured I would solicit any suggestions I can.
I did some research and also spoke with my personal care physicians (PCP) and was told that cramping is body’s final warning signal that I’m running on empty electrolyte wise. I was suggested to try “Endurolytes Powder or Capsules” by Hammer Nutrition to rapidly assimilate Electrolyte source. Has anybody heard anything about this stuff? http://www.hammernutrition.com/za/HNT?PAGE=PRODUCT&PROD.ID=4037#info6
or maybe there is another source of Electrolyte that CrossFitters use? Thanks guys!
not gonna make it again today, jess is sick and i’m loaded at work. i really like this one though!!!!

Hey guys, for the 530 tomorrow, we’re gonna be filming the WOD for a GO Urban video. If you haven’t heard about (if you’re on FB you definitely have, cause I’ve been blownin everybody up ), it’s an urban adventure race kicking off this year. Some of the points that you stop at are cool physical challenges and we always want to try & involve a CF gym. All that said, we’re throwing together some quick little videos of the groups, organizations, & companies GO is supporting and this will be one of the videos!
I know 530 is normally crowded, so can it be crowded tomorrow too?? That way CFVB can look extra cool. Not that we don’t already See y’all tomorrow!

Rita I tend to associate cramping after the WOD with the need to stretch.
If it’s during the WOD? That doesn’t happen much and it’s usually something like a stitch that tells me I’m not breathing right.
What’s the case for you?

Rita:
Typically, cramps are caused from dehydration or lack of potassium. Easy fixes by drinking fluids and eating bananas. Electrolyte replenishment can also be done with Gatorade. I add water to it because the sugar content is high, which can cause blood glucose levels to spike, which leads to the crash and the feeling of needing to eat something(Logic for eating six smaller meals per day instead of the traditional three). Stretching better after a workout or run may help also.
I have only tried the Hammer Nutrition Gel product for long distance races where I needed energy. Watered down Gatorade works for me for electrolyte replacement. In the summer season with humidity levels increasing, it is very important to stay hydrated, especially for athletes. I hope that helps.

Dear Diary,
It made me sad when Nick left and didn’t say goodbye after showing us all how to do front squats with weight on them. I mean WOW.
As for me? Oh thanks for asking. Can we say “wrecked”? 150# or 75% of my BW…….5-5-5-4-6
I think my form was pretty good for going so heavy.
Max F-Squat is 175#.
Tonight, I also learned that Cory’s shoes were his brothers and only give the illusion that he’s been lifting since he was a fetus, that Abby (sp?) likes to talk to herself between sets (awesome), and that Thomi is into some freaky s**t that involves the spreading apart of hands inside orifices (shock, surprise).
Thank you CF for making me smile for the first time today.

Jason^2: Thank you. I’m not a big fan of Gatorade, due to its high sugar content, but I will have to consider options now , since those darn Electrolytes are so low. Will have to play with options and see which ones work better. Got some great feedback – Thanks guys
Andrew, it’s after the WOD, I told Lisa the details, will chat about it tomorrow, thanks again!
